Keoni and I tried this cute little restaurant in Sandy Springs today. It’s located in the Kroger shopping off Roswell Rd. They have all kinds of tacos made with corn or flour tortillas, quesadillas, nachos and salads. I ordered a chicken with mole and sesame seeds and a veggie with grilled peppers and onions, beans and rice. Keoni ordered a fish taco with jalapeno slaw and a chicken with grilled pineapple and quacamole. The fish one was his favorite and the veggie was mine. Their chips and salsa are really good and fresh, the chips having a slight lime flavor. The tacos start at only $2.50 each and 2 was plenty for us. We didn’t have drinks but they do have a full bar and lots of different kinds of margaritas, including a “skinny” one without the mix! Everything was so delicious and fresh tasting and the staff is so friendly!

Hae Woon Dae
March 20th, 2010 · 1 Comment
This was our third month of our “Dinner Club” and Korean BBQ was my choice. I must say I think all 10 of us enjoyed it. Tammy suggested Hae Woon Dae on Buford Hwy. OTP (outside the Perimeter, for non-Atlantans).
We were led to a low table where we sat on the floor , after removing our shoes. We all ordered Korean beers (Hite) and orders of dumplings as appetizers. They were very good! I ordered Bulgogi which is very common Korean dish made of marinated beef in a Korean sauce. Don’t ask me what’s in the Korean sauce, that’s how the menu reads. Keoni ordered chicken in a spicy Korean sauce and they were both very good. Tammy had shrimp and some ordered short ribs. The meat is cooked on a grill in the middle of the table, so you can participate. They began bringing all the side dishes (kimchi) and bowls of white rice and plates of romaine lettuce. Kimchi is any number of different vegetables that are pickled or fermented. Some that we had were cucumbers, bok choy, spinach, sweet potatoes and daikon. I also love the sliced jalepenos and whole garlic cloves that will keep all Vampires away! You just put your meat, rice, kimchi and sauces and wrap up! So delicious!
What a fun experience we had trying new foods and meeting new friends!

Ya’ll have to go to Crepe Revolution and have one of Katie’s (Our favorite bartender) specialty cocktails. I tried this blueberry cosmo and I loved it! Tastes like dessert!

Update on Melody Lane
March 10th, 2010 · No Comments
This restaurant on Canton Rd. in Marietta is the first one that I blogged about and it’s still one of my favorites! I said I would try everything on the menu and I just about have. The food is Meditarranean and it tastes like your Mom’s cooking if she’s a wonderful Lebanese woman! The grape leaves are the best I’ve ever had. They are hand rolled so if you’ve only had the ones out of a can, you haven’t had a good one. Her lentil soup is so lemony and scrumptious. The falafels are another favorite of mine. Fadia is the owner and she does all the cooking and also does catering. This is not a trendy place and they don’t have an alcohol liscence, this is just delciously prepared food and healthy, too.

La Tavola
February 23rd, 2010 · No Comments
For our second “Dinner Club” outing, Tammy chose La Tavola, located in Virginia Highlands. I must say it was an excellent choice! We had seven in attendance this time but we did sadly miss Tri. He was skiing with his brother in Vermont!
We started out with an antipasti of mixed olives, parmesean cheese, marinated vegetables and roasted garlic served with Italian bread. We ordered a bottle of Edmeades Zinfadel (this later turned into 3 bottles). Most in the group ordered Tagliolini with a mushhroom ragu with truffle oil and pecorino ramano. It was delicious! I talked Tammy into sharing with me. We shared a striped bass with castelluccio lentils and artichoke crema with speck( a type of proscuitto). We also shared a mixed greens salad. Everything was so good! We received excellent service from Willy and Alli, the bartender was also very helpful in pointing out her favorite dishes on the menu.
Willy brought over a “sweet” surprise at the end of the meal. An assortment of about 5 desserts, including tira misu, lemon cheesecake and a chocolate flourless cake. All were so delicious and decadent! What a great night out with friends!
