Put all ingredients through dried hot red peppers in slow cooker and stir. Cook on low and add potatoes after 2 hours. Cook on low for about 6 or 7 hours. Serve with basmati rice and yogurt raita.

Yogurt Raita

1 6oz. greek yogurt

1/4 cup chopped cucumber

1 garlic clove, chopped

1 tsp lemon juice

Spread yogurt onto paper towels and cover with more paper towels. Wait about 5 minutes then scrape yogurt into small bowl and add other ingredients. Serve with vindaloo.

I was going to try to be healthy and use brown rice but I thought what the heck? I’m eating beef and I like white rice better!

Here is a recipe I came up:

-two cloves garlic, chopped

-1 Tbsp. chili powder

-1 tsp. cumin

-1 tsp. turmeric

-14 oz. can tomatoes

-1 cup cooked white rice

This is a very unigue idea for a restaurant. They don’t have menus. That’s because they serve 5 things everyday and everyone gets a round tray with 5 ramekins with the 5 dishes they’re serving. These are called thalis.

They always have a soup, such as mulligatawney (aka firewater!), some kind of beans, potatoes,a vegetable and raita (yogurt sauce). Also on the tray is basmati rice and warm naan bread. If you avoid carbs, this is not the place for you. I don’t really care! I just do 2 workouts that day. Everything has just the right amount of spice to it and I’ve never gotten anything I didn’t like.

The owner is always there and is so nice and friendly. This is definitely worth checking out if you like Indian food. It’s like homecooking!

We went to Bhojanic last night. It’s an Indian Restaurant on Clairmont Rd. in Decatur. What interested me when I visited the website was that they have tapas, which means I can try lots of different dishes! I also wanted to check out the live music.

We met a group of friends and all agreed to share a variety of tapas, although they do have regular size meals, too. The bartender and our server both recommended Bhojanic chicken 65, Bhojanic Shrimp and alu tikki (potato pattie topped with chickpeas, curry and chutneys). We also ordered Bhindi (okra with spices) a lentil dal, and an eggplant dish. I liked everything and would definitely go back. Keoni was happy because they serve Bacardi Gold (not many places do). We had Taj Mahal beer which really goes well with the spicy food.
